What MassWildlife's partial gift means
MassWildlife describes a partial donation this way: donate at least 10 pounds of processed venison for $50 off processing, 20 pounds for $100 off, and 30 pounds for $150 off. Some processors may choose not to allow partial donations. Each processor sets their own processing cost. Those sentences are the program's meaning. They are not prices published by Middleboro Prime, and they are not a coupon this line can apply.
The pounds are processed venison, not the live weight in the woods and not a guess at field-dressed weight. Ten pounds is a finished-product amount after an approved processor has done the work. You cannot look at a hindquarter on the Nemasket River bank and call it the ten-pound tier. The deer must be processed entirely at an approved processor. Splitting the job between a home grinder and a shop is outside that sentence.
This line does not offer the discount
Nothing here claims a trusted area processor allows partial donations. Partner participation in Hunters Share the Harvest is unknown. Hunters use the official program map to see who is enrolled. A call through Middleboro Prime can reach a trusted area processor about venison you are keeping, and that shop names the price for that work. A program discount, if one exists, is between you, the program, and an approved processor. Ask them. Do not ask this website to quote $50, $100, or $150 as its own fee.
Some processors may choose not to allow partial donations even when they otherwise cut deer. A refusal is allowed. If the answer is no, a whole donation or meat you keep are the remaining paths, and each of those has its own rules. Do not leave a partial package on a dock and call it done. There is no dock published here anyway, and no street.
Whole donation is a different offer
A qualifying whole donation carries no processing fee for the hunter. The program describes a replacement antlerless permit, including a Zone 11 permit, as taking two to four weeks. Town centers in Middleborough, Lakeville, Rochester, Carver, Plympton, and Halifax, checked on MassGIS, are in Zone 11. Confirm the kill spot on the zone map if you hunted near a line. The whole-deer path is not a stack of the pound tiers. It is a separate choice, and enrollment of this partner is still unknown.
Whole still has a carcass standard. The deer is recovered and field dressed within 4 hours after the shot unless the ambient air temperature stays below 37F. That inclusion rule is also sound meat care. A partial gift does not escape field care. The venison has to be worth processing before any discount language matters. Ice, gloves, and a clean opening still come first on a warm day along Assawompset Pond or a cold day in primitive season.
The deer still has to be reported
File the harvest report within 48 hours. On MassFishHunt, log in, open the harvest report on the customer dashboard, and submit the harvest report. Put the confirmation number on the tag. The official page is the checklist. This guide does not invent extra button names. From November 30 to December 5 the report is an in-person check station from the state map. December 7 to December 12 is online again. Sundays are closed, including the Sundays inside archery, shotgun, and primitive season.
Until the report exists, stop at field dressing. Do not turn the deer into pounds of product in a home kitchen and then try to backfill the report. The program's partial amounts are processed venison from an approved processor, which means the legal deer reaches that processor as a carcass they can work, under the program's own instructions. Ask the program how a partial is scheduled. This page will not invent a handoff.
What to ask, without assuming a yes
If you call the referral line, say you are asking about meat you may keep and that you have a separate question about partial donation. Expect a trusted area processor to answer only for the work they do. They may decline partial donations. They may also decline sausage, jerky, a skin-only job, quarters, a cape, or another species, because each of those is unconfirmed. A taxidermist is a different shop. Capacity and business hours are unconfirmed. The price for ordinary processing, if they take the deer, is theirs, not the $50, $100, or $150 program language.
Each processor sets their own processing cost. That sentence matters twice. It means the discount, where a processor allows a partial donation, comes off their cost, not off a statewide menu. It also means Middleboro Prime has no authority to match, beat, or publish that cost. If two approved processors charge different amounts, both can be following the program. Your job is to ask the one you actually use.
Season timing around a partial gift
Youth dates are October 2 and 3. Archery runs October 5 to November 28. Paraplegic dates are October 29, 30, and 31. Shotgun runs November 30 to December 12. Primitive season runs December 14 to December 31. A partial donation is not tied to one of those stretches in this guide. It is tied to a legal deer, a finished report, program rules, and an approved processor who agrees. Late-season cold does not create the discount. Early-season heat does not erase it if the meat was cared for and the processor agrees.
Hunters leaving Rocky Gutter Wildlife Management Area on the south side of Middleborough, the Monponsett ponds in Halifax, or the Carver side of Myles Standish State Forest still check the rules of that land first. Forest rules at Myles Standish are the forest's. This donation note does not waive them. After a legal deer is down, the care standard and the report are the same as anywhere else in the coverage area. Route 28, Route 44, Route 105, Route 58, Route 106, and I-495 are ways people travel. They are not a price.
A clean way to talk about the tiers
Say the tiers the way the program says them. At least 10 pounds of processed venison is the $50 step. At least 20 pounds is the $100 step. At least 30 pounds is the $150 step. All three are amounts off processing, and only where a processor allows a partial donation. Some processors may choose not to allow partial donations. The deer must be processed entirely at an approved processor. Each processor sets their own processing cost.
Then stop. Do not add a Middleboro Prime fee, a promise that the partner will honor the tiers, or a claim that a club or a phone line is the processor. The referral is a call. The program is the program. If you want the meat in your freezer instead, skip the tiers and ask a trusted area processor what the work costs. That answer, given on the call, is the only price this line is built to pass along.
